Pinoy Pedestrian Power

Every Filipino pedestrian has this superpower. Not every single one of them know about this, but I'm here to tell you about it. I know you can use it, too. Well, that is if you're the type who doesn't care about stoplights. That should be a give-away right there.

Has anyone heard of the "Hand of God"? To those playing DotA, it's not Chen's ultimate. It would be pretty awesome if every Pinoy Pedestrian would have that. Just cross the road without any care for whatever might happen to you. Just cast your spell to get everyone healed.

... Okay, that kinda started out lame. Here's the real thing. It's a bit similar to that in terms of not caring about what's going to happen. Think Star Wars. Use the force.

Cross the road, do that, anything stops. Only in the Philippines! Well, I don't know if it works in other countries, too. It would be amazing if it does, but I really do think it's a bit... abusive. Yes, we have that kind of power, but we also have the obligation to follow rules. The problem here is that there are a lot of people who have this mindset that things aren't illegal if they're unseen. We have to get that out of our system. It's hard, but it's for making things a lot better.

I admit: I just wanted to add the image above because it looks cool. Besides, it also shows the idea of how you use the Pinoy pedestrian superpower. In that image's case, it makes doors open. In the case of a hardheaded Pinoy, we stop trucks. Oh, and I remember a friend talking about someone who ran over a kid who crossed the road with speedy cars. In other countries, the one at fault would have been the kid. In this country, it's the fault of whoever run the kid over. Correct me if I'm wrong if this is not always the case, but after hearing that, I felt pissed.

To be honest, I use this Hand of God thing every now and then; in cases when I'm almost late for work, or for an appointment that I think is a lot more important than caring about myself first. I break rules every now and then. I would be a liar if I said I didn't. Breaking rules can be a little bit fun once in a while, but that doesn't mean we can always have fun like that. We have to follow rules to make the things around us a lot better. Quoting Ben Parker from the recent Spider-Man movie, "If you could do good things for other people, you have a moral obligation to do those things. Not a choice; responsibility."

So... if you break rules, then you complain about the people around you who are doing the same...

Well, aren't you stupid? :)
